| === The Official Thread of Nefarian Rated Battleground Testing === |
|---|
|
Hey Nefarianites, As most of you have probably logged on today and noticed 1,000 [Battleground Rating] appear in your currency tabs, you're probably wondering "What the hell are those? Where can I spend them? How do I earn them?" Well, first of all take a look at the Wiki Page for battleground rating here: http://wiki.crusadegaming.com/CustomFeatures/BattlegroundRating Now, these next two weeks are what we call "Early Access Beta" to this new addition to our realms. This means that we're testing this system on Nefarian. So, let's answer a few of the questions above: Q: What the hell are these Battleground Rating items? A: Because there's no good way to show rating we've come up with a pretty intuitive solution, make it into a currency and display it in the currency tab. This way you can have your battleground rating always visible, and it won't take up any bag space to show you how much rating you have. Q: Can I spend them? A: Just like Arena Rating, you can not spend Battleground Rating, however, just like Arena Rating, the higher your battleground rating is, the more rewards you unlock. You'd be able to purchase rewards with a "Battleground Rating" requirement with Honor Points and/or a mixture of Arena Points. Q: How do I earn them? A: You earn battleground points when you win battlegrounds, and you lose them when you lose (or prematurely leave) battlegrounds. Note that if you quickly disconnect you will no longer be kicked from the battleground, and will have a small amount of time to rejoin the game and not lose any points. Q: Is the Battleground Rating that I earn now worth anything? A: Nope! Nothing whatsoever, not right now. When we end the early beta and officially release this feature, we will be resetting everyone's battleground rating to 1000. With the release of the system will come rewards that you can buy. We'll be posting more about this later as we finalize the details. Q: When are you guys officially releasing Rated Battlegrounds? A: June 3rd. We will release it with the rewards vendors. What's coming next: We've listened to player feedback about this system and we're working on implementing the following additional features: 1. When you're summoned by a Game Master for an Event, you shouldn't lose rating for leaving a battleground. I've noticed many players hesitant about leaving battlegrounds to go to events, you should never be punished for joining an event. So, if you leave a battleground to join an event, you won't gain any rating from that game, but you won't lose any rating as well. (FIXED) 2. If you've put up a valiant effort and fought well, you shouldn't lose as much rating compared to being completely destroyed. We're working on making it so if you lose 2/3 in WSG, or are very close to the winning team's score in AB/EOTS you will lose less battleground rating. (FIXED) 3. In the inverse, if your team completely obliterates the opposing team, you should get a bonus in rating. 3 cap WSG in 10 minutes? Score a 5 base win in AB? Your team should be rewarded for being awesome and besting the other team. (FIXED) 4. Individual + Team Perks: If you win game fast, you'll get more points. If no one in your team dies, you'll get more points. If you 5 cap you'll get more points, ...etc. If you are top in damage / healing / KBs you will get more points. (FIXED) 5. Do not change rating for players that have played for less than 15% of a match or 3 mins, whichever is longer, when the BG ends. (FIXED) Our observations so far With actual incentive to win games now, we're noticing that games that were otherwise an honor grind and graveyard camp are being actually played out, with objectives being a priority over getting honorable kills. This is exactly what we want this system to promote! I need YOU! We need players to log onto Nefarian and test out the system. If you have any additional ideas and feedback please post them here! Any discussion related to the Rated Battleground System should take place in this thread! Please note that we're trying to keep this conversation as civil and productive as possible, any unneeded negativity/trolling will be ruthlessly removed. There's a difference between constructive criticism and pure negativity. Posted by Nyse on 05/19/2013 06:25:04 PM. 37 Replies, 1008 Views Read More... |
| Fireside Chats w/ Nyse: Volume 3 (3rd Anniversary Exclusive!) |
|---|
![]() “Summer is Coming” It's been a bit over three weeks since my last “weekly” fireside chat. I will admit, things were looking grim, however I needed to get affairs straightened out before announcing you what is going on. I'll be straight with you, these past few weeks have looked pretty grim. A lot of change has gone on internally, and we're preparing ourselves for the summer. We've managed to secure the money to pay the designer for the new site, and he's done with all the work we needed for him. What does this mean for you all? Development of the new website has already started (262 commits have been made to the new website's repository, we've custom coded a new armory, talent calculator, talent viewer, achievement viewer and tooltip service, all from scratch in Python.) Spades and myself will be putting the time into getting it done right! But that's not all that's happening! I have secured a $2,000 base budget for advertising purposes in June. Any money that you donate to the server over the summer will be reinvested directly into the server, either via advertising, marketing or hosting fees. These next few months are going to be critical to us. With our new site right around the corner, and a planned re-launch, I expect Crusade Gaming to start to pick up population over the summer. We have some of the best minds in private servers working on our staff right now, and I have full confidence in our ability to deliver. Crusade Gaming is also switching hands. Yes, I technically “own” Crusade Gaming now, but on paper it is owned by “Appos Inc.” which is owned by Silent, meaning that he still works with us as a silent partner (pun!), and handles the money. However, all of that is changing very soon. The articles of incorporation of a new LLC have already been filed to legally own Crusade Gaming, meaning that we can register a payment accounts with various different providers to take your donations with out the risk of them getting frozen. I'll be able to directly use these donations to further improve the population of the server. The $2,000 base budget I spoke about earlier is coming out of my own pocket as an investment into Crusade Gaming, and that's going to go straight to buying banners and paying for a dedicated marketing specialist that I am going to hire for the job. These next few months are either going to make us – or break us. Now, let's talk about what's happened on the realms so far: Last week, you may have noticed that your rates have changed on Malygos down to 1x. No, we haven't decided to go down to Blizzlike XP rates, but rather after a bit of hard work, we've rolled out a brand new exclusive feature dubbed the “Variable Rates and Leveling System”. Instead of being stuck at 30x, you can now set your leveling rate anywhere from 1x to 30x at the Crusade Gaming Quarter Master, and additionally change it any time you want during the leveling process. Now, you may ask yourself, why would I ever want to level at a lower rate? There's a simple answer: rewards. If you level up a character at a lower rate you will be able to buy more gear from the Crusade Gaming Quarter Master. Want to make an awesome looking transmog and customize your character from a huge variety of rare gear? The Crusade Gaming Quarter Master probably has it for you if you've taken the time to level up at a lower rate, or if you've purchased a Premium Account. You can earn tokens for these rewards by leveling up, doing battlegrounds, winning arenas, and doing PoS, FoS and HoR heroic level dungeons. These are the same tokens you use to transmogrify your gear currently. I've prepared a quick FAQ about the system: Q: Why do you start us out at 1x instead of 30x? A: Starting players off at 1x will motivate them to talk to the NPC at the starting zone, browse his goods, and get familiarized with the system if they wish to level up. Q: What happens if I purchase a level upgrade? A: The system will count it as if you leveled up to your purchased level at 30x. This means that you can purchase an upgrade to 60 or 70, and then level at 1x to level 80 to significantly lower your average leveling rate. Q: How is Average Leveling Rate calculated? A: ALR is calculated by a simple velocity formula, every time you gain experience, we increment two fields: a += total experience earned b += total experience * current leveling rate. We then calculate ALR by doing a/b. Q: So, essentially, I can breeze through the lower levels, and lower my leveling rate at the higher levels, and expect my ALR to lower quickly? A: Precisely! However, players usually enjoy doing lower level content or dungeons at a regular rate, just for the experience. It's no fun to go into the deadmines, and outlevel it by the time you've reached Van Cleef's ship. Now you're all probably wondering: “Nyse, bro, why is this fireside chat so freaking late?” I'll give you the honest answer: Because, the information in this announcement is too important to announce with out making sure that it's absolutely going to happen. I've teased you guys with the thought of a website for too long, and am not going to make empty promises with out actually having stuff done in the first place. It's not fair to you all as a community. In the absence of these chats however, players have asked where they are, and were actively looking forward to them. I appreciate the concern a lot. I take a few hours typing out these posts, and a few days planning out exactly what to say, making sure to deliver as much information as I can to the community as possible; while being frank and honest. Today (May 17th) is a pretty a pretty significant date for Crusade Gaming, and you've probably seen the site go down briefly. It's the 3rd year anniversary of the purchase of our domain and the formation of Crusade Gaming. That's right. Crusade Gaming has been around for 3 years now, and through it all, we've managed to keep on going. The main reason why is due to the awesome community we have. We're gonna be hosting a ton of events today in celebration. Everything on the shop is going to be 75% off for today and today only in celebration and as a reward to the players who've stuck around so far! Now, let's talk about the future: We've been hard at work developing some truly new and unique features for Malygos and Nefarian. For starters, we're working hard on Guild Housing, Guild Leveling and finally Rated Battlegrounds. Rated Battlegrounds is nearing development completion, and you can expect a full announcement regarding that soon, for now, I leave you with following: Happy 3 year anniversary everyone! And here's to the continuation of one of the oldest private servers ever! We've amassed an amazing 511,123 accounts that have created 394,116 characters on Malygos and 711,872 characters on Nefarian. Here's to our best year yet! Long Live Crusade Gaming! Nyse. Posted by Nyse on 05/17/2013 01:09:47 AM. 17 Replies, 1725 Views Read More... |

“Every flight begins with a fall.” ― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones Well. A week has passed, and here I am back again with your promised weekly announcement to discuss the state of Crusade Gaming. This week's been a fun one, that's for sure. We've started work on a few long term projects this week. Stuff that you won't see the immediate results of yet. But let's see what I can tell you guys today. The new website: Yup! It's coming. The designer we hired has been working hard, and we've got a few previews. They're looking massively sexy compared to our current site. Once the design work is done, we're going to start converting them to HTML+CSS and implement them onto the new website framework we're working on. It's looking massively awesome. I can't wait to launch the new site in time for summer. The Quality Assurance team has been made and currently consists of Kaiyn and OPCODE. They've been so far doing a great job. This week, unfortunately, I don't have much to say. There's a lot of work and planning going on in the background, but nothing that we're ready to announce yet. Population on both realms is slowly improving, but we need your help more than ever now. Spread the word. Crusade Gaming is making a comeback. Vote, donate, and help us make Crusade Gaming the premium gaming community it once was. Ultimately, this week was a lot of planning, deciding how we want to move forward. And we've got some great ideas that we're working on. I'll have more for you guys along the course of the week, and hopefully a finalized site design and some wicked previews by next week. If you guys have any questions, ask away. I'll try to answer them as best I can. Cheers, Nyse. Posted by Nyse on 04/21/2013 11:09:57 PM. 9 Replies, 3357 Views Read More... |
